I was blessed to be able to visit Guanacaste, Costa Rica. My stay lasted 10 days and it was an immaculate experience. I hoped on a flight, and two stops later, landed in Liberia, Costa Rica at the Liberia Airport. Upon deboarding, I made my way through customs. We traveled by bus from the airport to the resort. Along the way we got to enjoy the scenery of the region. The drive offered a view a lot of greenery, farms, and fruit stands on many corners. The roads were slightly bumpy, and some were made of dirt, it was a very nice ride that I was happy to bump along on. We arrived at a RUI in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. It was beautiful large resort that connected to several others nearby. It had a pool, club, shops, restaurants, and was in walking distance of the beach. This resort was all you can eat and had a variety of different restaurants you could choose from to eat. It was very exciting to be able to try a wide variety of delicious fresh food whenever you felt like it. The food was all so fresh and healthy, my personal favorite was the red grapes that naturally has seeds. They are like our red grapes but with a more robust and richer flavor, but beware, don't swallow the seeds. There was a poolside bar which you could swim up to for the cocktail of your choice. I enjoyed a nice frozen pina colada and sat by the pool and enjoyed live music. We had the pleasure of taking two-day trips to experience some of the joys the area had to offer. Throughout the first day trip we got to go through the sugar cane process, horseback riding, coffee demonstration, and a nature walk which led down an outdoor waterslide in the forest. The staff explained and demonstrated how they extract the juice from the sugar cane. We then got to sample raw sugar cane which was so sweet. Up next was horseback riding through the forest. In the forest we got to see toucans, monkeys, butterflies, and native wildlife in their natural habitat. Following the horseback ride we made our way to another location. After we arrived, we went on a rope hike through the forest. There were bridges and ropes to hang onto for support. During the walk we got an aerial view of the rainforest. After the walk we were led up a path which brought us to a tall outdoor waterslide. We rode down the slide and, as always with waterslides, crashed in a pool of cool water at the bottom. My head got fully submerged under water and it was very refreshing. The weather was very hot and very humid, and I loved every minute of it. To end this trip we got to enjoy a dip in several hot springs with mud mask available for the skin. I truly felt spoiled. On the second day trip we went for a flatter hike with mild inclinations. This hike led to a beautiful waterfall. While we were in the rainforest, you guessed it, we got poured on. It was well worth it. We were able to capture views of sloths, monkeys, snakes, birds, spiders and wildlife. We got to enjoy a pottery demonstration and were then brought to a chocolate demonstration, where they explained the process that the cocoa bean goes through before it becomes chocolate. They then demonstrated the roasting and grinding the beans to make us authentic hot chocolate. In the days following these activities I found myself at the spa. I opted for a massage which left my muscles relaxed and skin hydrated. My final days of the trip were spent enjoying time relaxing and enjoying not worrying about time. This trip was a very memorable and amazing experience that I was so grateful to have.
